Merry Band of Puppy Raisers: The Lehigh County Puppy Club

For over 25 years, the Lehigh County Seeing Eye Puppy Club has proudly raised puppies and gathered for club meetings near Allentown, Pennsylvania.

“At one time, the club was so large that it was divided into 2 distinct clubs – North Paws and South Paws! We’ve since recombined and have now included the former Northampton County club into our band of merry puppy raisers,” recalled Lehigh County club leader Robyn Oplinger.

Robyn strives to ensure each puppy club meeting is helpful for both new and long-time raisers, often utilizing The Seeing Eye puppy raising manual that each raiser receives and adapting lessons in an engaging manner.

“To make potential raisers feel welcome, we have a great onboarding process that is followed with individual support from a seasoned raiser through our mentor program. We want everyone to feel that they’re part of a family! We are so lucky to have a wide span of ages – youngsters to retirees!”

Outside of their club meetings, the club members enjoy taking their puppies with them to new and exciting places.

“Our outings include scavenger hunts, rides on our public bus system, mall walks, ambulance training, demos, trips to Ellis Island, and adventures at our local sports arenas.”
