James Hands joined The Seeing Eye as Director of Administration & Finance and Chief Financial Officer in October 2021 and was promoted to Chief Financial and Operating Officer in July 2023. Hands also sits on the Board of the American Foundation for the Blind where he serves as Chair of the AFB Audit Committee and member of the AFB Finance Committee.
Hands, a resident of Keyport, New Jersey, brings over 25 years of nonprofit management expertise and financial leadership to his role, and previously served as Director of Financial Planning and Analysis at the Natural Resources Defense Council, a New York-based international nonprofit organization. He has a Master of Business Administration in Finance and Investments from the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Rutgers University.
