Medical Concerns
When to call us, and when to call your veterinarian

Medical Concerns: Urgent or Not Urgent?
Puppies are very resilient, but sometimes they get tummy aches from eating the wrong thing or get ‘bumps and bruises’ from playing a little too hard with friends. Don’t panic! These things happen and when they do, please email PDMedical@seeingeye.org or call/text this number: 973-944-8342. All inquiries will be attended to as soon as possible.
For more immediate concerns, please consult your Area Coordinator directly.
If the puppy requires urgent care after hours or over the weekend, contact your area coordinator or The Seeing Eye directly at 973-539-4425. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we implement this new communication procedure.

Please email PDMedical@seeingeye.org or call/text 973-944-8342 if you notice any of the following:
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting (bile or food)
- Coughing
- Ear bumps, dirt, scratching
- Itching, licking, fur loss
- Lethargy
- Limping

Urgent Medical Concerns
Immediately contact your area coordinator, The Seeing Eye (973-539-4425), or your veterinarian if your puppy has these symptoms:
- Combination of “non-urgent” symptoms (vomiting, lethargy, and loss of appetite)
- Problems with eyes (squinting, pawing at eyes, redness, swelling around the eyes/face)
- Ingesting foreign objects
- Trauma (hit by a car, dog/animal attack)
In the event of an emergency, such as physical trauma, difficulty breathing, abdominal pain, contact your veterinarian immediately and notify your area coordinator.
