Our employees work in two locations:
- The Washington Valley Campus in Morris Township: This is where our administrative offices, student residences, kennels, and AAHA-accredited veterinary clinic are located.
- The breeding facility in Chester Township: This is where our breeding dogs and puppies live.
Are you interested in training Seeing Eye® dogs? Our guide dog mobility instructors are full-time employees who have successfully completed an apprenticeship of specialized on-the-job training. They relate well to dogs and people and are physically fit, since their jobs are physically demanding and involve working outdoors in all weather. These positions are advertised when available.

Associate, Puppy Development
Reports To: Manager of Puppy Development
Department: Puppy Development
Scope of Responsibilities: Ensures the smooth coordination of diverse functions throughout the Puppy Development Department as well as a variety of tasks integrated with the training, finance, graduate services, IT, and donor and public relations departments.
Essential Functions:
- Maintains accuracy of all aspects of Puppy Development Department in the Seeing Eye Information System (SEIS) and dog files from puppy through training and graduation
- Troubleshoots with IT any SEIS technical concerns related to Puppy Development
- Oversees scheduling of town walks, including sending letters, coordinating training instructors’ schedules with puppy raising families and town walk volunteers
- Interdepartmental coordination to provide communication to puppy raisers regarding their pup in the training process via certificates, postcards, letters, photos, etc
- Executes all aspects of The Seeing Eye Service Scholarship program
- Prepares departmental reports as needed
- Records and submits minutes of all department meetings
- Prepares MIP report for accounting department throughout the year
- Purchases supplies as needed while keeping accurate inventory summary
- Assists in planning, development and execution of department activities i.e. Family Day, Woofstock, Rutgers Day Puppy Show, Leaders Meeting, Puppy Photo Calendar Contest, NJ Devils Fund Raiser
- Assists families picking up or dropping off pups on campus
- Edits puppy and dog graduation photos used for Family Day and in other departments
- Directs emergencies, difficult situations and complaints to appropriate individuals
- Organizes necessary supplies to be transported by relay drivers to area coordinators
- Follow up on time-sensitive information amongst the department
- Utilizes excellent interpersonal and organizational skills in fulfilling all responsibilities
Education and Experience
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office Applications; Basic Photo Editing using Adobe Photoshop; Internet Applications

Automotive Mechanic
The Seeing Eye, the world’s oldest organization devoted to breeding, raising, and training dogs to work as guides for people who are blind, has an opportunity available for an Automotive Mechanic.
Reporting to the Manager of Facilities, the successful candidate will be responsible for repairs, maintenance to all Seeing Eye vehicles, as well as all outside grounds equipment. Required to carry a cell phone and provide 24/7 emergency coverage as needed. Be able to operate all building systems in support of all Seeing Eye Facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform maintenance, repair for a 60 + vehicle fleet and all outside grounds equipment.
Maintain all service records, vehicle recalls, and state inspections. - Ability to lift up to 70 pounds. Walking, climbing ladders, roofs, etc. in performance of assigned duties.
- Drive and operate various types of equipment — e.g., snow removal equipment, trucks, vans, tractors, and mowers.
- Capable of operating and using hand tools and power tools — e.g., hammers, saws, screwdrivers, wrenches, etc.
- Assist, as needed, in maintenance of all structures and related components — e.g., painting, carpentry, and plumbing.
- Assist, as needed, in the maintenance of all outside grounds — e.g., lawn mowing, tree and shrub pruning, and general landscaping.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Must have extensive knowledge of all facets of vehicle and small engine maintenance and repair.
Maintain a valid New Jersey driver’s license.
Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision.
Must have good interpersonal skills when dealing with staff, outside contractors, vendors and suppliers.
Able to demonstrate good judgment and problem solving skills.
Have a reasonable understanding of local building codes.
Possess a willingness to work overtime when required due to special events, after hours work, snowstorms or emergency situations.
Requires some knowledge of Microsoft Office Windows environment with emphasis Outlook and Word.
Vocational, Trade School, or Technical School Certificate required or 10 years of equivalent experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 5 to 7 years experience in vehicle and small engine maintenance and repair.

Food Service & Housekeeping Assistant
One full-time opening is available immediately for a qualified individual to join the Food Service and Housekeeping staff at The Seeing Eye’s Morristown campus.
Housekeeping Responsibilities include:
- All cleaning duties related to bedrooms, bathrooms, and lounge areas
- Dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping floors and various other tasks
Food Service Responsibilities include:
- Serving meals, dining room preparation and clean-up after meals
Qualifications:
- One year of prior housekeeping experience preferred
- Ability to lift/carry up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, reach, bend and kneel as required
- Must be able to work independently
- Must be able to follow instructions regarding tasks and functions
Job Specifications:
- Days worked will vary based on scheduling needs
- Some holiday work and weekend work required.
- $18.00 per hour
- 35 hours per week.
- Availability to work any of the following shifts:
- 6 a.m. – 2 p.m.
- 10:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
- 6 a.m. – 6 p.m.
