Get your start with our Puppy Raising program by providing short-term foster care!

Puppy Sitting

Applicants to our Seeing Eye Puppy Raising Program first attend a Puppy Club meeting to meet other Puppy Raisers (and puppies!). If accepted into the program, these individuals or families volunteer to watch a puppy assigned to a Puppy Raiser for a short time so they can learn the basics of the program. After a few Puppy Sitting opportunities, they will be assigned a puppy as a Puppy Raiser.

However, some individuals and families remain Puppy Sitters rather than becoming Puppy Raisers. Puppy Sitters provide a valuable service to The Seeing Eye as puppies may not be ready to go to different events or on vacations. It’s also a great opportunity for the puppy to be exposed to a different home environment!
