THE SEEING EYE ADDS TWO NEW TRUSTEES

Deb Hughes and C. Patterson McKenna elected to board of guide dog school

Morristown, N.J. – The Seeing Eye, the first guide dog school in North America, has added two new members to its Board of Trustees.

Deb Hughes of Hillsborough, New Jersey, is Senior Vice President, Transformation Communications and Change Management & HR for Enterprise-Wide Functions and COO-Business Support, for Automatic Data Processing (ADP), Inc. In this role, she is responsible for providing HR support to the Chief Administrative Office, Finance, HR, Strategy, OneADP locations and Strategic Enablement and Strategic Operations teams as well as coordinating internal communication efforts and global change leadership work.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from Rutgers University. Deb and her husband, Allen, live in Hillsborough with their three rescue dogs and enjoy spending weekend time together at Allen’s antique stores in Milford, New Jersey.

C. Patterson “Pat” McKenna, Esq., of Highland Park, New Jersey, is Assistant Division Director of the New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Pat has a Bachelor of Science degree in geology from Lafayette College, a Master of Science degree in environmental science from Rutgers University, and a Juris Doctor from Rutgers Law School. He is also a graduate of The Seeing Eye, currently working with a black Labrador/golden retriever cross named Raven. He was matched with his first Seeing Eye dog, a black Labrador retriever named Asta, in 2001.

Pat and his wife, Sital, have two children and live with Pat’s retired Seeing Eye dog, a yellow Labrador retriever named Finn, and a pet dog named Omi. “The Board of Trustees has elected two outstanding individuals who will help lead The Seeing Eye during our 95th anniversary year and beyond,” said Seeing Eye President & CEO Margaret E.L. “Peggi” Howard, D.Litt. “The depth and breadth of expertise and life experience of our Trustees has helped The Seeing Eye remain at the forefront of the guide dog industry.”

The Seeing Eye is celebrating its 95th anniversary on June 11 with a gala at the Mountain Ridge Country Club in West Caldwell, New Jersey. For more information, go to www.SeeingEye.org/gala.

Established in 1929, The Seeing Eye provides specially bred and trained dogs to guide people who are blind or have low vision. Seeing Eye dog handlers experience greatly enhanced mobility and independence, allowing them to retain their active lifestyles. The Seeing Eye is a 501(c)3 non-profit supported by contributions from individuals, corporations and foundations, bequests, and other planned gifts. The Seeing Eye does not receive government or insurance funding.
