Peggy Gibbon

Director of Canine Development

Peggy Gibbon is the Director of Canine Development, overseeing enrichment for newborn puppies and adult dogs at the Breeding Station, the Puppy Development Department, the Washington Valley kennels, and adoptions. Peggy has been an assessor for the International Guide Dog Federation since 2014.

The Canine Development team oversees many key components to creating the successful guide dogs The Seeing Eye is known for. From early enrichment of newborn puppies to support for our dogs in puppy raising homes and facilitating continued progress when they return to us for formal training.  Peggy works closely with Veterinary Medicine and Genetics to select the ideal candidates for our breeding program and assignment for training.  Additionally, she collaborates with Instruction and Training and Puppy Development to maximize the potential of each dog, identifying opportunities for early intervention in behavior management and assessing the progress of every dog in our program.

Gibbon joined The Seeing Eye in 1983 as an Apprentice Instructor. She was later responsible for teaching apprentice instructors for 10 years and managed the Puppy Development Department for a short time. Peggy has a B.S. in Animal Science from Cook College of Rutgers University.
